Steve Gardner
MA in Education
Steve’s approach to coaching is client-focused i.e., start where the client is; identify needs and offer suitable strategies. It gives him a buzz when he sees people making strides to tackle their issues. He encourages a positive approach, recognising you can’t control others, but you can control your own responses to situations.
Steve has over 6 years coaching experience with Genius Within, and over 20 years senior management experience at 3 different colleges, so he brings extensive experience of working with people at all levels of an organisation. He also has significant teaching experience so enjoys working with groups.
Experience
Steve has worked for over 6 years as a coach with Genius Within as well as delivering private coaching sessions.
Prior to this, he worked for over 20 years in Further Education as an Assistant Principal in 3 different colleges. His specialisms were Student Services and Basic Skills, including those with neurodiverse conditions such as dyslexia, and those with language and maths needs. He was also the safeguarding lead and led equality and diversity for those colleges. Steve enjoyed college leadership roles for employer engagement, community development and school liaison at different stages of his career. He was a keen advocate for CPD and developed my knowledge and skills over a long period of time. Latterly Steve was the lead for Inspections, Quality and Teaching & Learning.
Steve thoroughly enjoyed his career, but now enjoys the focus of 1:1 work and helping individuals as best he can, which is incredibly rewarding.
