Broadcaster Nicky Campbell and daughter to host the Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards
20 December 2022
Genius Within CIC is delighted to announce that broadcaster, podcaster and best-selling author Nicky Campbell is to host the Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards alongside his daughter Kirsty Campbell.
The father and daughter duo will support the awards and share personal reflections as part of the hybrid event being held in person and streamed online on 28 September 2023.
The pair both have ADHD, and it was Kirsty’s diagnosis at the age of 15 that led Nicky to explore his own ADHD traits aged 60, which he discusses in an episode of his podcast ‘Different’.
Nicky Campbell says: “My ADHD traits have benefited me and my career in many ways and I am more interested in the things that make us different than ever before. We are looking forward to hearing the stories that come out of the awards and meeting some of the incredible award winners.”
Jacqui Wallis, CEO of Genius Within, the organisation behind the Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards, says:
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Nicky and Kirsty on board to help us take the Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards to a wider audience in its sixth year. The aim of the Awards is to celebrate the day-to-day achievements of the neurodiverse community around the world, and Nicky and Kirsty are the perfect ambassadors to help magnify those stories.
“Genius Within started these awards because we know all too well that neurodivergent people spend far too much time being made to focus on their perceived deficits and not enough time celebrating their many strengths and successes. Our work in the social justice sector and the business world gives us access to so many wonderful stories and we wanted to create an event that made space to share them. We hope you will join us in 2023!”
