Exclusive Interview: From Binman to Boardroom

In this interview, I speak with Gavin Simpson, accountant and author of Binman to Boardroom, about what it really took to write his book and why telling his story mattered so much. Gavin talks openly about vulnerability, identity, late diagnosis and the power of understanding how your brain works, not to change who you are, but to stop believing you are broken.

He reflects on the environments we place people in, why diversity of thought is essential for business and society, and how reading someone else’s story can be life-changing when you realise you are not alone. His honesty, insight and generosity come through strongly, and this conversation is one I hope many people will recognise themselves in.

If you have written a book, shared your lived experience, or have a story about work, neurodiversity or identity that you think others could learn from, I would love to hear from you. These conversations matter, and they start by being willing to speak.
