We are a neurodivergent majority organisation across both our staff and our leadership, so the people supporting you have usually lived it themselves. Genius Within is not listed as a recommended supplier? No problem!

Access to Work assessors suggest a few companies in the quotes section of your award letter, and Genius Within appears regularly. But even if we are not on your list, you are free to choose any approved provider. We can still deliver your recommended services.

Every coaching and Disability Impact Training package includes a one-year Genius Finder licence at no extra cost to your grant. Genius Finder is our flagship strengths platform — it helps you understand your cognitive profile and build practical strategies that work for how your brain works. The licence continues to be available after your coaching or training concludes, so you can keep building on your progress independently.

Who is eligible for Access to Work?

You need to be in paid work — including an apprenticeship, internship or work trial — and have a disability, health condition or difficulty that affects your ability to work. A formal diagnosis is not required. Conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, dyslexia, autism, dyspraxia and chronic pain can all qualify.

How do I apply for an Access to Work grant?

You apply directly through GOV.UK. A DWP assessor will review your situation and write a report recommending the support you are entitled to. Once you receive your award letter, you can place an order with Genius Within.

Do I need to have Genius Within listed as a recommended supplier?

No. Assessors list a few companies in the quotes section of your award letter as a guide, and Genius Within is included on many. But you are free to use any approved provider. If Genius Within is not on your list, we can still deliver your recommended services — just get in touch and we will advise you.

What can Genius Within provide through my grant?

We deliver 1:1 Coaching, Disability Impact Training, Co-Coaching, Manager and Executive Coaching, assistive technology software licences and training, some hardware and equipment, and Neurodiversity Awareness Training for teams. The majority of people can fulfil their entire grant through Genius Within alone.

How does price matching work?

When you complete the order form, you share a copy of your grant award letter. We review it to confirm which services and quantities have been agreed by the DWP, and we match those prices exactly. We then send you a formal quote. Once payment or a purchase order is confirmed, your support can begin.

What is Disability Impact Training, and how is it different from coaching?

Disability Impact Training is a structured programme designed for people who have recently received a diagnosis — or who are making sense of a later-in-life diagnosis. It helps you understand your condition in a work context, identify your strengths, and build practical strategies. Access to Work assessors frequently recommend it alongside or instead of 1:1 coaching.

How do DWP claim forms work?

After each service is delivered, claims must be submitted to the DWP to release your grant funding. Genius Within prepares the claim forms on your behalf. At the end of each month, your completed forms are available to download from your Navigator account. You then submit them to the DWP directly. We can also provide receipts at any stage if you need them.

Can my employer complete the order form on my behalf?

Yes. Either you or your employer can place the order using your grant award letter. Many HR teams do this as part of managing workplace support. Our Client Services team are happy to guide you both through the process.

What is the Navigator portal?

Navigator is the portal account we create for you as soon as your order form is submitted. It holds your session records, coaching and training reports, and your monthly DWP claim forms — all in one place and accessible any time.

Can Neurodiversity Awareness Training be funded for my whole team?

Yes. Awareness training that benefits your team can be included as part of an individual’s Access to Work grant. It is one of the most effective ways to extend the impact of your grant beyond yourself. Speak to your Access to Work adviser to confirm what your specific grant allows.
