Congratulations to the Neuro-Champions…

Jamie’s Farm uniquely blends Farming, Family, Therapy and Legacy into a transformative 5-day residential programme with follow-up support.They work with young people who are struggling within the school system. So far they have supported over 13,000 young peopleTheir vision is that vulnerable children nationwide will be better equipped to thrive during their secondary school years and beyond.

The Lancashire Mind training team is part of Lancashire Mind, an independent mental health charity that provides neurodiversity training both within the organisation and for other corporations. They offer alternative versions of their training sessions, altering materials to increase accessibility and including information about neurodivergence and mental health. They are teaching how to reach groups who wouldn’t normally have access to mental health information and also ensuring their practices are emotionally safe for the teachers and learners.

Smalley Pre-School is run by a voluntary parent committee for kids aged 2-4. They individualise the curriculum for each child based on their strengths & interests. The schools manager works closely with parents/carers to ensure they access services that can support them. ND kids are extremely well looked after here & are included in all activities & events. They have a sensory space, fidget toys & support with smooth transition to school.

Redwood Unit is a Specialist Resource Provision for pupils with social, emotional &, mental health needs. They encourage self-advocacy & support students by creating bespoke timetables that provide the option to reset. They proactively predict pressure points for students & are attentive to unexpected changes. Chris West and the Redwood Unit offers a safe space for pupil’s, they are always willing to listen & adapt.

Newlands Primary School has been on an inclusion journey, implementing strategies to identify needs & creating quality support plans for students. They have a focus on teaching kids strategies to help them regulate, giving them a valuable life skill. They have introduced a communication resource which has allowed children previously excluded from mainstream education to become fully integrated.

Smithdown Primary School

Smithdown Primary School’s motto is show kindness and respect to All. This is non negotiable and everyone and everything is included in this. Children have sensory diets, loops,resistance bands,fidget toys. Parents and staff access training to help understand neurodiversity. Smithdown is over 95% English as a second language and  have many different cultures and beliefs. Acceptance of neurodiversity can be a challenge to many families and Smithdown understand this. They work tirelessly to break down stigmas that maybe attached to a diagnosis.
