Gill Holmes

Non-Executive Director

Gill has recently joined the Board of Genius Within as a Non-Executive Director. Her role is to support the organisation offering a differing view, challenging thinking, and helping to drive the business forward. She has recently retired from the Civil Service where she has spent her life supporting customers of DWP into work. Gill enjoys bringing her past experiences to support the leadership team, especially when resolving knotty issues. Problem solving brings her a sense of purpose.

She works part-time in a very busy role, no two days are the same. Holly is always available to help and prides herself on making team members roles easier. Holly works collaboratively with all employees, communicating and using her initiative to solve any problems before they become a problem.

What 3 words would Gill use to describe Genius Within?
People-centric, ground-breaking and welcoming.

What is Gill’s favourite way to relax and unwind after a day’s work?

Gill finds it challenging to fully relax after retiring from a fast-paced role following 37+ years of work. Her two dogs, Wilson, a 3-year-old Airedale Terrier, and Izzy, a 1-year-old Fox Terrier, keep her quite busy. She also has four grandchildren, aged between 1 and 8, who love visiting her in Cornwall whenever possible. Gill cherishes these moments, enjoying trips to the beach with them and listening to their unique perspectives on the world.

What is Gill’s Inner Genius?
Gill is great in a crisis; she keeps her head and looks at practical things to do to help. Gill can put aside her feelings until later. However, the downside is they do come out later, often to the confusion of others! Gill allows herself to panic and cry after the event.
