Genius Within gets shortlisted as a finalist for the HSJ Partnership Awards 2023

Genius Within CIC and Health Education England – Midlands are delighted to announce that our work with postgraduate doctors and dentists in training has been shortlisted for Best Consultancy Partnership with the NHS at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2023.

This nomination recognises outstanding dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS.

Genius Within is a Community Interest Company based in East Sussex. They specialise in neurodiversity and disability inclusion in the workplace. Comprised of psychologists and professional coaches they are also a 68% neurodivergent/disabled team giving them excellent insight from their own lived experiences.

The project nominated for this award was about providing neurodiversity support to postgraduate doctors and dentists progressing with their training. The aim being to reduce exam failures, resits and dropouts through effective screening and support for individuals struggling to progress through the training process, particularly those identified as being Autistic, Dyslexic, Dyspraxic, ADHD, and other minority neurotypes.

The evaluation data showed that in the past 12 months clients reported a 70.1% performance improvement in their topics of focus and that 25% of clients went on to succeed in promotions. We also saw a 97% improvement in stress management.

Genius Within CEO Jacqui Wallis said “We could not be more proud of this collaboration and are delighted to have our work recognised by the judges. With an estimated 15-20% of the population being neurodivergent it is safe to say that every profession and workplace needs to think about how to better support neurominority employees. This is especially important in the health service where people need to be able to work at their best so much of the time.”

The Health Services Journal have said, “The national healthcare sector faced innumerable pressures over the past 12 months – yet the standard and overriding positivity of the partnerships this year highlight the enduring dedication to improving patient outcomes.”

The HSJ Partnership Awards recognise the most effective collaborations with the NHS and highlight the benefits that working with the private and third sectors can bring to patients and NHS organisations.

The judging panel comprised a diverse range of highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, despite tough competition from a pool of excellent applications, is a mark of real achievement for Genius Within.

The winners will be selected following a rigorous judging stage ahead of the HSJ Partnership Awards ceremony in March 2023.
